Premarital Counseling

Premarital Counseling

At Grace Harbor Church, we believe that preparing for marriage is just as important as planning the wedding day. Our elders provide pre-marriage counseling to engaged couples to help build a strong, biblical foundation for a lifelong marriage. Premarital counseling by one of our pastors is required for any couple who would like to be married at Grace Harbor. Please keep in mind the pastors are not able to officiate Sunday weddings.

When to Start

We strongly encourage you to begin counseling before setting your wedding date. As we walk through this process, additional time may be needed to work through important topics. Our goal is not just to prepare you for a ceremony, but for a healthy and lasting marriage.

We ask that you remain flexible with your timeline as you enter this exciting season.

Who Should Participate?

We are honored to walk with couples in our church through this important season. If you plan to make Grace Harbor your church home after marriage, we encourage you to complete pre-marriage counseling with us.

If you plan to join your fiancé’s church, we ask that you pursue counseling there instead. Since your future church will be your primary spiritual community, this is a valuable opportunity to begin building relationships with your pastors and establishing a support system.

What to Expect

Pre-marriage counseling typically includes:

  • Four sessions (about 2 hours each)

  • Guided discussions with a pastor

  • Scripture-based and practical exercises

  • Approximately 300 pages of reading

  • Creating a working budget together

  • Learning from the experience of other couples
